Book a call

Cloudworx is a Cape Town accounting firm doing cloud accounting, fractional CFO work and back-office support for businesses in South Africa and the UK. Their Divi WordPress site looked dated. We rebuilt it as 60 pages, 8 of them landing pages for Google Ads, tracked every form and call, then ran the ads.

The Challenge

Cloudworx sells to two audiences: businesses in South Africa, and UK companies that hand their accounting to a team in South Africa. Their site ran on Divi WordPress and looked its age.

What they needed:

  • One site for two markets - A page for UK clients and a page for South African clients, with every service explained in plain terms.
  • Pages that match the search - Landing pages written for the exact searches the ads would pay for, like accountant, bookkeeping or Xero accountant.
  • Proof of what works - Every form and every call counted, so ad spend could be traced to real enquiries.

8.00% of people who saw the ads clicked them, from day one. The business-services average is about 6%.

Our Approach

Site first, then the landing pages, then the tracking and the ads.

  • Phase 1: Rebuild the site
  • Phase 2: Build the landing pages
  • Phase 3: Track everything, then run the ads

Phase 1 : Rebuild the site

25 pages and 35 articles, 60 in all.

  • Services - five pages: SA accounting, fractional CFO, outsourced back office, employer of record and cloud resources.
  • Two markets - a page for UK clients and a page for South African clients.
  • The rest - home, services hub, about, team, contact, blog, news, videos and the legal pages.

Phase 2 : Build the landing pages

8 landing pages, one per search theme: accounting firm, accountant, small business accountant, cloud accountant, tax practitioner, tax services, bookkeeping and Xero accountant. Four of them put the searcher’s city in the headline, from a list of six: Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Centurion and Sandton.

Phase 3 : Track everything, then run the ads

Form sends, taps on the phone number and calls from the ads each count as a conversion in Google Ads. GA4 and Microsoft Clarity run alongside.

The Landing Page Form

Each landing page puts the offer on the left and the form on the right, and the form stays in view as you scroll. On a phone, a bar at the bottom keeps the call button in reach.

The form asks for name, business name, email, phone, the service they want, monthly turnover and a message. A hidden honeypot field keeps the spam out.

How an Enquiry Reaches Them

The form saves the enquiry, then a branded email goes to the founder and to us from the firm’s own Google Workspace address. The Google Ads conversion fires at the same moment.

A tap on the phone number is counted in Google Ads too, so calls are never invisible.

Outcome

The ads were right from day one. 8.00% of the people who saw them clicked, against a business-services average of about 6%. Three real enquiries came in during the first six days, at about $94 each.

The clearest finding was about budget, not quality. The ads showed on only 10% of the searches they could have. 90% was lost to budget and just 2% to ad rank.

The campaign is paused while the firm decides its next budget step.
